About this grant

The Tribal Management Grant program aims to prepare tribes and tribal organizations for assuming all or part of existing Indian Health Service programs functions services and activities under the Public Law 93 638 Indian Self Determination and Education Assistance Act as amended and to further develop and improve their health management capabilities. The Indian Health Service intends to issue five to sixteen awards under this program announcement.

Eligibility

Federally recognized Indian Tribes An Indian Tribe as defined by 25 U.S.C. 1603(14). The term "Indian Tribe" means any Indian Tribe, band, nation, or other organized group or community, including any Alaska Native village or group, or regional or village corporation, as defined in or established pursuant to the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act (85 Stat. 688) [43 U.S.C. 1601 et seq.], which is recognized as eligible for the special programs and services provided by the United States to Indians because of their status as Indians.Tribal organizations A Tribal organization as defined by 25 U.S.C. 1603(26).
